„Geben ist seliger denn Nehmen“ – so kann man die großzügige und großherzige Tat überschreiben, die der Neonatologie am LMU Klinikum jetzt zugutekam. 5.241 Euro überreichten die Europaabgeordnete Prof. Dr. Angelika Niebler und Silke Mader, Vorsitzende und Gründerin der European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI,) für das SAVE-Projekt. Das Geld wurde anlässlich Angelika Nieblers Geburtstag an die EFCNI gespendet, die lieber ein Projekt für Frühchen unterstützen wollte anstelle persönliche Geschenke zu erhalten.

Symbolisch übergeben wurde die Spendensumme an Prof. Dr. Andreas Flemmer, Leiter der Neonatolgie des LMU Klinikums. „Mit dieser und künftigen Spenden vieler anderer Menschen wollen wir das sehr erfolgreiche SAVE-Projekt weiterführen und prospektiv auf die anderen Standorte der Neonatologie am LMU Klinikum ausweiten.“ SAVE (save-muenchen.de) ist eine Initiative von Frühstart ins Leben e. V. (www.fruehstartinsleben.de) in Kooperation mit dem Bundesverband für verwaiste Eltern und trauernde Geschwister in Deutschland e. V. (www.veid.de).

„Projekte wie SAVE tragen ganz maßgeblich zur emotionalen und psychologischen Unterstützung verwaister Eltern bei. Der Palliativversorgung und Trauerbegleitung im Neonatologie Bereich muss mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet werden und ich bin daher sehr dankbar für diese Spende und für Frau Professorin Nieblers großzügige Geste.“, betont Silke Mader.

Angelika Niebler freut sich, „dass durch das SAVE-Projekt auch weiterhin Eltern professionelle Hilfe bekommen können, wenn der Verlust eines Kindes zu beklagen ist. Danke auch an Silke Mader, die mir bei der Spendenverwaltung und der Suche nach einem Verwendungszweck hilfreich zur Seite stand.“

MEP Angelika Niebler supports SAVE project at LMU Hospital

“Giving is a bigger blessing than receiving” – this is how one can describe the generous and magnanimous deed that has now benefited the neonatology department at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) Hospital.
Professor Angelika Niebler, Member of the European Parliament, and Silke Mader, Chairwoman and Founder of the European Foundation for the Care of Newborn Infants (EFCNI), handed over 5,241 euros for the SAVE project. The money was donated to the EFCNI on the occasion of Angelika Niebler’s birthday, who preferred to support a project for preterm babies instead of receiving birthday gifts.

The donation was symbolically handed over to Professor Andreas Flemmer, Head of Neonatology at the LMU Hospital. “With this and future donations from many other people, we want to continue the very successful SAVE project and prospectively expand it to the other neonatology sites at LMU Hospital.”
SAVE (save-muenchen.de) is an initiative of Frühstart ins Leben e. V. (an early start to life; www.fruehstartinsleben.de) in cooperation with the Bundesverband für verwaiste Eltern und trauernde Geschwister in Deutschland e. V. (Federal association for bereaved parents and grieving siblings; www.veid.de).

“Projects like SAVE contribute significantly to the emotional and psychological support of bereaved parents. More attention needs to be paid to palliative care and bereavement support in the neonatal field and I am therefore very grateful for this donation and for Professor Niebler’s generous gesture.”, highlights Silke Mader.
