Roundtable workshop with parent representatives

Sharing knowledge and experience is key. That is why, on June 28-29, Silke Mader, Dr Johanna Walz and Dr Silvia Kolossa from EFCNI held a workshop on “How to organise an expert roundtable” with 15 international parent representatives. While the Friday was filled with shared experiences on roundtables and insights on project management, the workshop on Saturday focused on the set up of an expert roundtable. The specific topics covered were:

• Project management and stakeholder mapping
• Literature research and guidelines
• Development of discussion points based on the literature available
• What to bear in mind during and after a roundtable

Country-specific health guidelines, such as on Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) were also discussed in group sessions.
The workshop aimed to empower parent representatives to set-up and organise expert roundtables in their country.

Silke Mader, Chairwoman of EFCNI, said: “It was an excellent and interactive workshop with highly-motivated parent representatives. All of them are willing to change the care procedures for newborns and preterm infants in their countries.”
